Cry Havoc: The Peasants

I have finally received and painted the first group of figures for my project. Here are the results, presented with the original counters for comparision. As discussed in my previous post, I have taken some liberties with the figures, but by and large they have turned out pretty much as I had hoped.

Baker:

Carpenter:

Cedric:

Farmer:

Gam:

Giles:

Gobin:

Radult:

Salter:

Smith:

Wulf:

Here is one from the other side showing the stats on the bases:

Finally a group shot of the whole motley crew:

So there you have it. Next up, the shortbowmen and after that a play of the first scenario.

    1. It has been slow progress so far! Mainly as delivery from 15mm.co.uk took about 10 days, which was unexpected. Looking forward to getting on with more figures and the first battle report.

  2. This is a really cool project! Cry Havoc was my first wargame, I've still got my old copy as well.

    1. Hi Atom Kid, thanks for your comment. I first played Outremer but was lucky to pick up Cry Havoc, Siege and Dark Blades as a deal online. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this project works out.

    1. Thanks. After I've painted the shortbows I get to play the first game. Should be worth it! Really want to get working on the more interesting units like the knights! :)

  4. Nice start, simple and effective way of showing the stats.
Looking forward to seeing the knights as well.

    1. Thanks, Matt. I'm going to think about flocking the bases, but I don't know if I would be neat enough to avoid obscuring the stats.

I wasn't sure if they (the names/numbers) would be too distracting, but when you remember it is a boardgame and the same as you see on the counters I don't think it is too bad at all.

I have already thought it is possible to cut small slips of paper and tack them on top for running campaigns with character improvement. That would be quite neat.

  5. Looking good! I'm surprised by how few there are - I think the multiple counters fool you into thinking there are more characters in the game than there are.

Do you think you might try and do 3d versions of the maps? One of the published scenario books had some on the cover - very smart.

    1. Thanks. I know what you mean about how few their seem to be. It is a trick of all the counters! But when you add in Siege and Outremer as well, you do end up with a lot!

There is a slim chance I may try 3D boards, but I'm going to focus on the figures at the moment. Would be an interesting idea though!
